Reba McEntire Opens Up About Her Relationship With Rex Linn: “We’ve Been Inseparable Since Day One”
Sometimes, love takes its time — and for Reba McEntire and Rex Linn, it was worth the wait.
The country music legend and the accomplished actor first crossed paths all the way back in 1991 on the set of The Gambler Returns: The Luck of the Draw. But it wasn’t until nearly three decades later, in 2020, that their long-standing friendship turned into something much deeper.
Their reunion came thanks to McEntire’s guest appearance on Young Sheldon, where Linn had a recurring role. The timing — as McEntire puts it — was everything. “I don’t know what it was; timing is everything,” she told E! News. “Rex Linn — it was just like a magnet. I had to get in there to see him at the restaurant.”
Sparks flew that night over dinner, but just as things were heating up, the world came to a halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While the separation might have been a roadblock for some, McEntire believes it actually brought them closer together.
“Because of the pandemic, we didn’t get to see each other from January to June 16,” she said. “But we created an intimacy by texting and talking on the telephone that we wouldn’t have gotten if we’d been together all that time. So it was special… a wonderful way to get to know each other better.”
Since that reunion, McEntire says they’ve been “pretty much inseparable.”
As for the question everyone’s wondering — will they get married? McEntire is open to the idea, especially since Linn has never been married before.
“I’ve been married twice. After the second one dissolved, I don’t have much faith in being bound by a piece of paper or a ring,” she shared. “I’m truly committed to Rex… If he wants to experience that, I’m OK with that.”
So, what makes Linn so special?
“He makes me laugh,” McEntire said. “He’s a very caring, down-to-earth, funny individual. He’s got a very witty sense of humor.”
From a dinner date to a pandemic love story, Reba and Rex prove that the best relationships are built on deep connection, laughter, and timing that’s just right.
