Susan Boyle Returns to Music on Her 64th Birthday: “I’m Back and I’ve Missed You All”
Susan Boyle is officially back — and fans couldn’t be more thrilled.

The beloved Scottish singer, who stunned the world in 2009 with her Britain’s Got Talent audition of “I Dreamed a Dream,” returned to Instagram this week after a two-year hiatus to celebrate a personal milestone — her 64th birthday — and share the exciting news that she’s working on new music.

“Today is a special day – it’s my birthday! But I have something exciting to share… I’m back and working on some amazing new projects that I can’t wait for you to learn about,” Boyle wrote in a heartfelt video post.

Her update comes after a challenging chapter. In 2022, Boyle suffered a minor stroke that affected her ability to sing and speak — a devastating blow for the artist who rose to global fame with nothing but her voice and a dream. But as she told fans during her surprise return to Britain’s Got Talent last year, “I fought like crazy to get back onstage — and I’ve done it.”

In addition to her stroke, Boyle has publicly navigated health challenges including Asperger syndrome, which she was diagnosed with in 2012, and type 1 diabetes.

Despite it all, Susan has remained a beacon of resilience and humility. In a 2019 interview, she reflected on her whirlwind rise to fame: “Fame is such a strange concept and has never been a motivator for me. I just want to sing for people and give them joy, happiness, to forget about reality for a while and have fun.”

Her 2009 debut album, I Dreamed a Dream, became the best-selling album in the world that year, and she has since sold more than 25 million records across seven studio albums. Her most recent release was the 2019 compilation album Ten, celebrating a decade of success.

And now, with her birthday wish granted — to sing once more — Boyle is ready to make magic again.

“I’ve missed you all,” she wrote to her fans. “Your support means the world to me, and I’m more determined and excited than ever.”
