Simon Cowell Won’t Leave His £460 Million Fortune to His Son—Here’s Why

Simon Cowell has always played by his own rules—and when it comes to his legacy, he’s no different.

The 65-year-old Britain’s Got Talent and X Factor creator recently revealed he won’t be passing on his estimated £460 million fortune to his 11-year-old son, Eric, saying he plans to donate it to “much worthier causes” instead. His focus? Helping people—and animals—long after he’s gone.

👨‍👦 The Bond Between Simon and Eric

Eric, born in 2014, is Cowell’s only child with longtime partner Lauren Silverman. The couple also help raise Adam, Lauren’s son from a previous marriage. Eric was named after Simon’s late father, to whom he was deeply close. Friends say that connection gave Simon a deep sense of comfort and shaped how he values family.

And while Simon often gushes about being a dad—saying it’s the “best thing that’s ever happened to me”—he also wants his son to learn independence the hard way.

💬 “When I lost my mum, I was on a downward spiral,” Cowell confessed during a 2024 appearance on The Diary of a CEO podcast. “Without question, [Eric] saved me.”

🐶 So Where Will His Millions Go?

Even with that powerful father-son bond, Simon stands firm in his belief that kids shouldn’t inherit wealth just because of their last name.

“I’m going to leave my money to somebody. A charity, probably—kids and dogs,” he told The Mirror years ago, and he’s held true to that sentiment.

Cowell explained that his real legacy isn’t money—it’s opportunity.

“Hopefully you gave enough people an opportunity, so that they could do well. You gave them your time, taught them what you know.”

🎯 Why This Matters

In a world where celebrity children often live lives of luxury by default, Cowell’s decision stands out. He’s choosing purpose over privilege—teaching Eric that success isn’t inherited, it’s earned.

And that’s a message many fans find more valuable than any trust fund.
