Should We Be Saying “Now Boarding from Dolly Parton International?” ✈️💄
More than 50,000 people think so — and Dolly Parton finally responded.

In the heart of Music City, a grassroots campaign is taking flight — and it has one goal: rename Nashville’s airport after Dolly Parton. 🎶💅

Launched by Nashville comedian Lydia Popovich and Goat Song Records’ Dan Dion, the online petition began as a tongue-in-cheek idea… but it quickly turned into something much bigger. Why? Because when it comes to unifying icons, no one does it like Dolly.

“Dolly’s the Best of the South”
“She resonates with everyone — rich, poor, gay, straight, conservative, liberal,” said Popovich. “She’s the best of the South, and people smile just thinking about her. That’s reason enough to honor her.”

The petition, launched on Change.org, began gaining momentum just after a failed political push to name the airport after President Trump. That effort flopped — but Dolly’s fanbase? It soared. 🛫

Even Change.org’s official Instagram took notice, giving the petition a major visibility boost.

So, What Did Dolly Say?
When asked by The Tennessean, Dolly responded in classic Dolly fashion:

“I mean, it does sound like a lot of fun to say: ‘Your flight is departin’ from Nashville’s D. Parton.’”

We’re not saying we need rhinestones on every baggage cart… but we’re also not not saying it. 💁‍♀️

This may have started as a funny idea — but with tens of thousands behind it, the question remains:
Could Nashville International really become Dolly Parton International Airport?
